To accurately identify the needs and context of the product we need to work on, we suggest, in addition to the specifications you will have provided us with beforehand, a usage workshop. The principle of this co-creative workshop is to bring together all the stakeholders in the project, from the installer to the sales representative, including the maintenance technician, the SCALEA engineering team, and anyone who has had or could have an interaction with the product. These participants are likely to provide perspectives, expertise, and information that will enrich the project.
During a half-day session at your premises, we will analyze and test the existing product with you to identify areas for improvement that can serve as levers for innovation.
The idea book is a collection of research exploring technical and formal possibilities to concretely translate the product's direction. The book is presented in the form of hand-drawn sketches, rough drawings, illustrations, or even 3D images. The goal is to conduct 360° research without quantity limitations. A pre-selection will be made by us for presentation. The only limit to the idea book is that while proposals are studied anticipating industrial solutions, they are presented without technical proof of feasibility at this stage. In addition to sketches and drawings, we will provide complementary mood boards to express material or inspirational analogies.
Further to the idea book, we hope to identify the proposals that best match the spirit.
At least 2 (up to 3) strong ideas will be chosen for preliminary design projects. These preliminary projects will further define the aesthetic and technical aspects of the concepts by studying technical feasibility, proposing assembly solutions, and selecting materials and colors.
The preliminary projects will be presented in the form of 3D visuals and realistic renders to give a good idea of the materials and colors. They will be shown as in use and described in exploded views. At this stage, the preliminary projects will be executed as 3D files, allowing us to present printed volume mock-ups of the proposals.
One of the preliminary projects will be selected. The chosen proposal will be finalized in detail, taking into account any comments or observations you provide in writing.
This phase involves finalizing shapes, inlays, thicknesses, and the integration of electronic components.
Internal constructions such as reinforcements, screws, assembly hooks, or any other elements from the engineering office will not be executed unless screws or usage elements (buttons, LEDs, rotation axes, sliders, pivots) are deliberately visible or integrated into the formal vocabulary, in which case they will be represented.
The development phase is the stage during which we work jointly with an engineering office. This could be your company's R&D department, an external consultancy, or our own engineering office, SCALEA.
This is a purely technical phase aimed at finalizing the detailed design of each component of the product, as well as its assembly, finish, cost, and manufacturing process.
With our expertise in industrial production, we leverage a broad network of trusted industrial partners to help you seamlessly transition from concept to reality. We guide you through the setup and certification of your initial production runs, ensuring that your products meet the highest standards. By applying advanced Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques, we streamline the production process, reducing assembly time and costs, and optimizing every aspect of your product’s journey from the factory floor to the market.
